Hi, Francine and Louis!  You may want to use some of the following for the newsletter or the web site.  It is rather lengthy so edit as you like.  Hope you guys had safe travels.  Happy holidays to all of you!
Affectionately,         Cris Morgan

On our way home from Branson, we traveled with Sue and Chuck Fisher to the Ky/Tn line.  They introduced us to a real nice state park that I thought I would share with ACE.  It was the Kentucky Dam Village State Park, Gilbertsville, Ky.  There are 221 back-in sites, very large (30 x 40) and mostly shaded.  There is only 30 amp. Service, but is not a problem for us unless in the hot summertime.  It was a very pretty place with two camp stores selling the usual sundries.

As "entertainment" the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is close by.  This offers hunting and fishing, hiking trails, the Woodlands Nature Station (very nice - and I learned how to use a compass for orienteering), The Elk & Bison Prairie (we only saw two female elk deep in the woods) , The Homeplace (original and restored log structures, period dress, etc.), and The Golden Pond Planetarium & Observatory.  The four of us only had time to take in the nature station and the elk & bison prairie - but had a great time.  Also, in the little town of Grand Rivers, there are some nice shops, antiques, and great food at Patti’s!

The next stop for Richard and I was at the Riverside Campground in Abingdon, VA.  About ˝ of their sites are permanent - but I have never seen permanent sites so well maintained!  Again, they only have 30 amp. Service, but since it is in the mountains, this is usually adequate.  The campground is on a fast-flowing, clear, mountain stream.  If we were full-timers, I believe this is a place where we could spend a month or two.  In Abingdon (not too small of a town) are shops, antiques, etc.  And, the Barter Theatre - The State Theatre of Virginia.  They have shows daily and they change throughout the year.  Showing this year, to name a few, are "Betrayal," "As You Like It" a romantic comedy by Shakespeare, "Man of Constant Sorrow:  The Story of the Stanley Brothers," "Singin’ in the Rain," "Miracle on 34th Street," etc.
