41 DAYS ON THE ROAD & A LOT OF ALPINE FRIENDS. Well, Tom & I started our summer travels June 10th~ Three months we have to go from Jackson, TN to Yakima, WA then back east thru Michigan before returning to Tennessee by Sept. 12 to finalize our rally in Springfield, MO. Our first encounter was in Denver, CO while visiting our granddaughter. At the RV Park that we were staying, Tom met some friends of Jesse & Shirley, Dick & Pat Lokar from their prior Foretravel Club. We thought “small world”. Then while were pulling into a KOA in Missoula, Montana, low and behold we were across the street from another Alpine. After we got set up, we went over and introduced ourselves. The lady said that Tom looked very familiar and then it came to Tom that they were the ones at Conley’s picking up their motor home the same time we were there. Their names are Rich and Barb Grant. What a nice reunion even thought they didn’t recognize me. While we were in Cody, WY, there was an Alpine parked on the street, so Tom left our card and where we were staying, but still did not know whom they were. Then we drove on intoYakima for our appointment WRY: Our last night there we ran into Gale Johnson and his “New 2005 Coach”. At the plant we met three couples from So. California Chapter, Lee & Brenda Fillenwarth; Bill & Bonni Wentzel; Jim & Polly Klinko, and we swapped some good stories. While WRV was fixing our coach, Tom and I took a run over to Seattle and met Doug & Norlonna Funkhouser. Remember they are the couple that Tom & I met in Florida, invited them to our Stone Mt. Rally and they came and had a great time. Well they showed us all around Seattle and it was great seeing them again. Before we left Yakima we took a run down to Kennewick, WA and found Mike & Cindy Kelly in their new home. Remember they were visitors at our rally in North Carolina last year. Well the list goes on. We took Jim & Jodi’s suggestion that we take US 2 from Washington to Michigan and we are so glad that we did. Pulling into a campgroun4 in West Glacier, MO, who runs out to see who was in our Alpine, none other than Jayne Carlson from our own ACE. She and her husband, Dave, were working in the area so we were able to have dinner with them. I took their picture sol can send it to Louis when I get home, so he can get it on the web site. On across US 2 we go and our encounters don’t stop. The next ones we run into were Ken & Betty Anderson, who were ACE, guests at Maggie Valley in 2002. Today while fueling another Alpine drove in. It was a couple from Canada, just traveling and enjoying Their home on wheels. Don’t know who we will run into tomorrow, but hopefully we’ll see you all soon.
